 author:Brigadier John P Dalvi Himalayan Blunder was an extremely controversial war memoir penned by  Brigadier John P Dalvi, who was the commander of the Indian 7th Brigade which was destroyed in the 1962 India China war. Writer was captured by PLA [People's Liberation Army of china] on 22 oct 1962. We faced defeat against China. Brigadier Dalvi gives a first-person account of the war. In book writer shows us the situation of our army, what difficulties they have faced during the war. How our soldiers resisted the china army in cold weather of Himalaya without having even good pair shoes, with limited no of bullets and grenades. He explains the condition of the Indian army politics involved in it. How our brave soldiers spent days without having proper food...list goes on .. If we read the book your eyes will be wet..!!  The book is translated to Kannada by Ravi Belagere with the same title. Read the book to get the complete view of 1962 war.

The author describes a mythological event in very different way . The book is about how a common man Shiva become the legend, the god 'Mahadeva'. How he destroyed the evils,Civilization of Indus, Importance of river Saraswati, The war between Suryavamshi and Chandravamshi . It has characters like Sati,Nandi,Bhadra,Brahspati The novel has lots of suspense, mixed with war and love. The things evil and god are depends upon, how a person thinks. The book explains this concept nicely. Author ends the book in suspense making readers to wait for next volume of book .. When i finished reading this book, i cursed him for making me to wait for next release [The secrets of the Nagas] Do read the book when you get time.          ಮೊನ್ನೆ ಶನಿವಾರ ಸಂಜೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಬ್ಬ ಗೆಳೆಯ, ಲೇ ಸೂಜಿ ತೊಗೋಬೇಕು ಬಾ ಅಂಗಡಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ ಅಂದಾ . ನನ್ನ ಜೋತೆ ಇದ್ದ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬ ಲೋ ಸಂಜೆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಸೂಜೆ ಮಾರಲ್ಲ ಅಂದ .ಲೇ ನೋಡೋಣ ನಡಿಲೆ ಅಂತಾ ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವನನ್ನ ಕರ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದಾ. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಿನ ನಂತರ ಇಬ್ಬರು market ಇಂದ ತರಕಾರಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆ ಗಜ್ಜರಿ ಏನೂ ತೊಗೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು, ಆದ್ರೆ ಸೂಜಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಲ್ಲ ಅಂಗಡಿಯವನು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ .           ಇದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳ್ತಿರೋದು hi-tech city  ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಲ್ಲಿ . ನನಗೆ ನಂಬೋಕೆ ಆಗ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಗಲು ಇದನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿಸ್ತಾರ?  ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಲ್ಲಿ ..??          ನಾವು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಮುಂದುವರೆದರು ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರಗಳನ್ನ ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದಿವಿ ...ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಲಿ ಇದು ಒಳ್ಳೇದು... ಚಿಕ್ಕವನಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅಮ್ಮನು ಅಂತಿದ್ಲು ಸಂಜೆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಸೂಜೆ, ಉಪ್ಪು ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಎನನ್ನು ಮನೆ ಇಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತೊಗೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬಾರದು ಅಂತಾ .  ನಮ್ಮ ಊರಿನ ಕಡೆ, ತುರ್ತಾಗಿ ಬೇಕಿರುವ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರದಿದ್ರೆ ಪಕ್ಕದಮನೆಯವರ ಹತ್ರ ಎರವಲು [ನಾವು ಕಡ ಅಂತಾ ಅಂತಿವಿ ] ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವದು ರೂಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಕ...

Trip details: Place: Dandeli KM: around 450km from Bangalore. 54 km from Dharwad Mode of transport: Train and Bus No of People: 10 We were planning to visit to Dandeli from last one and half year, due to one or the other reason we were not able to visit. This time we all decided to visit Dandeli. Because of the distance between Bangalore and Dandeli we decided to go by bus or train. Considering journey comfort we decided to go by Train. We fixed the 23 rd December will leave Bangalore and spend two days in Dandeli and back to Bangalore by 26 th December.
